we know something you don’t know and if we don’t share then we don’t grow

so scott lynn has decided to host a ‘friendly competition’ encouraging us to get out and be active for the month of june. the rules are pretty simple:

Biking 1 mile = 1 power unit ( it doesn’t matter if you’re on a fixed gear pulling a trailer or on a 28 speed carbon fiber road bike)

Running/jogging 1 mile = 3 power units (it doesn’t matter the time just the distance, don’t count jogging from cubicle to cubicle in the office)

“Other” 1 hour = 3 power units … However for each week you can only count a max of 2 hours (6 units) for this category

we report in our distances every friday, so i’m toying with the idea of keeping track of my distances here on this lil’ blog. maybe that will give you guys a sense of how much i actually bike during the week. i think it’ll be a lot less than i expect. plus, andre is in the competition and i’m going to be hard-pressed to keep up with him if he commutes in to work a few times.

so to get started, here’s the nine miles i did after midnight last night, and for future reference here’s my 1.6 mile daily commute from the blakeley.

Does Scott have any rules about the ‘Other’ category? Like, I push my TV remote button a LOT.

“To clarify “Other” can be anything that gets your heartrate up and keeps it up. This could be power walking, swimming, rollerblading, basketball, ultimate, the list goes on (strength exercise such as weight lifting and pullups/sittups while good are not part of this comp.). Just be honest to yourself.”

so maybe if it’s really exciting television?

i heart this idea. is this on the .83 forum anywhere? even though i’m not local, i’ll keep track of myself, too. my commute to work is about 4.5 miles.

    correct?

  5. lantius said:

yes! and one of the best music videos ever. it’s not quite as kickass as 3 feet deep though.
